Hello: Where did you get this information?
“With the new iPhone firmware 2.0, the Mobile Safari browser will be compatible with Flash and Windows Media content, making it compatible with most of what Web 2.0 has to offer.”
Apple’s website says nothing about Flash compatibility. If true, would a current iPhone be able to use the new 2.0 firmware and resolve Flash video?
Thanks, Craig
According to a patent Apple filed May 29 (US Patent 2008/0122796), it appears that the new iPhone firmware will have support for QuickTime (currently supported), Windows Media, and Flash. This information can be found in the diagram on page 161 of 302 in the patent and has also been confirmed by Zibri (person who created the popular iPhone unlocking, jailbreaking, and activating tool ZiPhone). Also, to this point Apple has made no indications of the new iPhone 2.0 firmware having only limited features available on the first generation iPhone.
I almost forgot to mention, its also directly stated in section [0781] of the previously mentioned patent on page 37 of the full text of the patent that: “inline multimedia content 4002, such as QuickTime content (4002-1), Windows Media Content (4002-2), or Flash content (4002-3);”
